How to Sell Your Timeshare – Let’s See Why Ebay Won’t Work…
Not much has changed since 2011 for the timeshare industry. Lots of people still have timeshares... And a good portion of owners are looking to sell.
There are so many timeshares for sale in today's market that it's no surprise that selling is so difficult. Just last week I checked again and Ebay was filled with boat loads of $1.00 timeshares. Yup! $1.00.
So if you're thinking about selling through Ebay, I wouldn't recommend it. Selling through ebay is a waste of time when your listing is competing with $1 listings. Do you actually think a buyer is going to choose your listing at full price VS. a buck listing?
With that option out of the picture, I'd recommend that you take a look a little deeper into the selling industry. I'm talking about legitimate options for selling. Forget about caving in like all the other sellers who got frustrated and decided to sell for $1.
The quickest option that I've used in the past is a company I found over at this website TimeshareSecrets.com. They might not be available anymore over there, but it's worth checking.
If you can't use that service, then here are a few pointers for finding a new one:
- Never pay upfront fees - You'll hear this all over the place, but only because it's now common knowledge for most sellers. I've never personally heard of someone selling their timeshare through paying upfront fees with a listing service. That's why I don't recommend you doing it - plain and simple, it's a waste of money.
- Learn the ropes - go buy a book if you need to. It is probably going to take you a week or two to figure out all the intricacies with selling your timeshare. Again, I didn't have to do this because I found a service that could help me at that site I mentioned above. I didn't feel like wasting 2 weeks of my life learning an industry I wasn't going to be involved in after I sold... After all, I'm not a broker and why should I learn how to master the art of selling a timeshare?
- Use your common sense! - Never give out money if something seems fishy. I recommend that you contact a few companies or have them contact you. Ask a lot of questions. Fill up a notepad if you have to. But please don't jump head first into anything without doing your homework.
